Extra-Curricular

Extending students’ learning

After-school clubs and other extra-curricular activities and educational visits and trips are an excellent way to enrich our curriculum and extend what our students learn in the classroom.

We provide a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities during and after the school day which provide lots of opportunities to explore new interests, enhance existing skills and help develop character.

AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS

Something for everyone

From Early Years to Pre-University, there’s a club for everyone at BSB.

We offer a termly schedule of increasingly popular activities that vary from campus to campus to suit the interests of every child.

From sports to drama, Lego, robotics, arts & crafts, cookery or aloha (mental arithmetic), our specialist clubs give pupils the opportunity to meet new friends, boost social interaction without any requirement or expectation to be at a certain level of skills.

Peripatetic Music Lessons

A successful approach to learning music

We are very proud of our programme of one-to-one tuition with specialist Music teachers. With nearly three hundred students across our campuses taking instrumental and singing lessons every year, and many passing their external examinations with distinction and merit, we sincerely believe that our school Music offering is second-to-none.

During the 2022-2023 academic year, all fifty-seven students who sat the music examinations passed, including nine with Distinction and thirty-five with Merit.

Our Music programme is open to all students at BSB from Year 1 or Year 3 depending on the campus. Whether they wish to learn purely for fun, to achieve / qualifications or to support their GCSE/A Level music studies, we have a dedicated team of expert teachers to support and guide them along the way.

Lessons take place before, during and after the school day.

We offer tuition in:
  • Brass

  • Drums

  • Guitar

  • Piano

  • Singing

  • Strings

*Depending on the campus, some instruments are subject to availability. Please check with the school.

Educational Visits & Trips

We bring learning to life

At BSB we place great importance on providing experiences that allow children to gain a deeper understanding of the topics they are learning. We believe that learning outside the classroom is key to developing our pupils, both academically and personally.

One of the great advantages of the privileged location of our campuses in Barcelona and the surrounding area is that there are a whole host of internationally renowned museums, theatres, galleries, historic sites and places of interest within easy reach of the school.

Throughout the year students are also given the opportunity to take part in overnight trips and residentials to benefit from participating in team-building activities and outdoor adventures as well as developing their cultural awareness and global perspective.

Examples of trips include: London Theatre, Skiing, Florida Sports Tour, Berlin History and German Tour and the annual Colonias trips for Year 3-9.

Before and after school care

Flexible wraparound care to support your busy agenda

We offer onsite care before and after school for all students in Pre-Nursery (at BSB Sitges), Early Years and Primary school across all of our campuses during term time. This provision runs alongside our full and varied after-school programme.

The service can be used on a regular basis or just as a one off to suit the needs of each family. Whilst childcare in the mornings is included in the fees from 8.30am daily for Pre-Nursery and Early Years pupils, for any other options payment will be added to your termly invoice.

BSB Language School

Partnership with Instituto Cervantes

BSB is an with Instituto Cervantes, and nearly all staff in the Spanish department are qualified examiners.

Preparation for DELE international exams of Spanish is embedded in the curriculum for non-native speakers of the language, which is not only a great asset on anyone's CV, but is, for many, a first step towards obtaining Spanish citizenship.

In the 2023 A1 exam, the pass rate was 89%, while in the A2/B1 exam it was 98%. Between the two exams, about sixty candidates registered in total.

Extending learning to parents and the wider community

At BSB we see everyone as lifelong learners.

We encourage parents to join our BSB Language School to learn or improve their English or Spanish skills and experience what it is to be a BSB learner first-hand!

The programme includes language lessons and conversational coffee mornings once a week with our specialist teachers in a range of levels of proficiency.

We also offer corporate language lessons. Get in touch with our language school coordinator for more information at school@bsb.edu.es.
